Serviced Apartment Summit (SAS) arrives in Asia this February

BANGKOK, THAILAND -- The Serviced Apartment Summit Asia (SAS Asia) will be hosted in Bangkok on 21-22 February 2019, marking the launch of the region’s first dedicated event for the extended stay, corporate housing and branded residence markets.

This unique two-day summit is a must-attend event for anyone with a vested interest in Asia’s thriving serviced apartment sector. It is not your ordinary conference however; there will be no keynote speakers or lengthy panel discussions. Instead, delegates will be able to engage in a series of lively debates intended to challenge conventional thinking and drive innovation. The first day of the event will also include an “Old Town Tour” of interesting hospitality and co-working concepts.

Designed as a collective environment of hospitality leaders, SAS Asia will provide a forum for networking, education and sharing best practices.
The summit has been organised by Piers Brown, CEO of International Hospitality Media, who also hosts annual SAS events in three other global regions: Europe, the Americas and the Middle East & Africa.

Asia’s serviced apartment inventory has increased by 33 percent in the last two years, and there are now more than 116,600 units located in 889 destinations all across the region. This growth means that the time is ripe for Asia to host a dedicated serviced apartment event. SAS Asia will take place at the Amari Watergate Bangkok.

“Until now, there hasn’t been such a laser-focused approach to served apartments and alternative hospitality choices within the region. Asia is seeing a rising number of new concepts and products that are blurring the lines between hospitality sectors, such as hotels offering co-working space. SAS Asia will debate these key trends and consider their impact on the industry, while also creating a highly productive platform for networking,” Mr Brown commented.

“Our global series of SAS events aims to create a fresh approach to doing business. We gather high-level hospitality leaders from all areas of the industry, including owners, operators, developers, investors, lenders and more, with the intention of innovating and advancing the industry. We look forward to welcoming forward-thinking business leaders to Bangkok for the inaugural SAS Asia,” he added.

Sponsors so far include Oakwood, ONYX Hospitality Group, RMS and Global Hospitality Services; SAS Asia is expected to attract up to 140 attendees from a wide range of sectors, including serviced apartments, extended stay hotels, branded residences and short-term rentals. A high proportion of CEO-level delegates have already been confirmed.

This will become the fourth edition of the global Serviced Apartment Summit series, following the launch of SAS Europe in 2013, SAS MEA in 2015 and SAS Americas in 2016. All of these summits are now annual events, and SAS Asia is expected to become a regular fixture on the region’s conference calendar in future.
